OK, it took a couple of small miracles and an awful lot of luck, but I was able to successfully find a great new off-Strip location yesterday for next Saturday night’s Conservative Awards Dinner for the 2017 Conservative Leadership Conference.
Yes, the alt-left protestors who planned a potentially violent demonstration against the dinner, originally to be held in the Havana Ballroom at the Tropicana, caused us a temporary headache…but they didn’t win!
1.) Instead of shutting us down, the alt-left goofs actually helped us sell more tickets. CLC ’17 is now SOLD OUT.
If you’d still like to join us, I can put you on our waiting list and let you know if we get any cancellations. Just email me at email@example.com.
2.) While I know this might be an inconvenience for some, in an effort to avoid any further potential disruptions of the dinner by these “domestic terrorists,” I will not be announcing the location of the dinner until next Saturday afternoon at the conference.
3.) In addition, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s participation was the flashpoint of the alt-left’s collective conniption. As such, we will neither be confirming nor denying whether or not he will be at the dinner to accept his “Courage under Fire” award or will have someone accept the award on his behalf.
We are in ongoing communications with the sheriff, who is fully aware of the situation here.
4.) I fully understand that some of you purchased dinner tickets for the sole purpose of seeing and hearing Sheriff Joe. I just hope you understand the reasons why we are not now able to publicly disclose whether or not he will still be attending.
That said, if you don’t want to take the chance of joining us for our awards celebration without knowing for sure if Sheriff Joe will be there…I fully understand. Just shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will fully reimburse you for your dinner ticket and offer it to folks on our waiting list.
5.) As the event is now sold out, further conference-related emails and updates will only be sent to registered attendees. I have a bunch of the alt-left goofs and agitators on my main e-mail list who like to monitor what we’re up to. And I’m simply not going to give them anything more on this.
6.) While the conference itself will still be open to credentialed media, the dinner no longer will be. Unfortunately, that includes C-SPAN, which had expressed interest in covering the event live.
Don’t blame me, folks. Under normal circumstances I have no problem with opening our events to the press. Blame the crazed, violence-prone alt-left for this one.
One last comment on this situation…
I was surprised at receiving some emails from a handful of supporters criticizing my decision to move the dinner; accusing me of “caving in” to the protestors.
If that’s your opinion, fine. But let me say this…
First, you don’t know ALL of the facts and considerations that were involved in making this VERY difficult decision.
Secondly, we didn’t cave; we adapted. We didn’t tip over our king. We simply moved our knight to queen’s rook 3.
Thirdly, if the only people potentially affected were me and Sheriff Joe, the two of us would have told the protestors to shove it up their wazoos. But in the immortal words of Col. Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men…
“I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom.”
Indeed, the consequences of holding the dinner at the Tropicana held out the possibility of serious harm and damage to a lot of innocent parties that didn’t deserve to be dragged into this fight – including Metro police officers themselves.
Sorry, but I Back the Blue!
And if you’ve seen any of the footage of recent protests around the country that have turned violent, you know that these deranged ANTIFA and other alt-left jerks have thrown rocks, cans and bottles of urine at cops.
These people aren’t interested in peacefully exercising their right to free speech. They’re only interested in anarchy. And they don’t care who they hurt in the process. Here’s just one example…
As you’ll see in the photo below, these nutcases actually attacked and assaulted a disabled American veteran…in his WHEELCHAIR!
So to the extent that I “caved in” to the despicable tactics of these people by moving the location of our dinner, guilty as charged.
But my first and overall concern HAS to be the safety and enjoyment of our attendees, the protection of the property and reputation of our very generous conference host, the reputation of Las Vegas itself, and the safety of both Metro’s police officers and innocent tourists visiting our city next weekend who might get caught up unwittingly in a potential riot.
If that makes me a sell-out “coward,” tough (expletive). I’ll just have to live with that.
That said, all of these developments mean this year’s CLC is going to be the best, most exciting one ever despite our opponents’ best efforts to ruin it!
And I’m looking forward to seeing and welcoming many of you next Friday.
